Abstract
The Taipei People by Pai Hsien-yung contains three tragic colors: the sorrow of living
in a foreign country, the sorrow of women in turbulent
times, and the sorrow of lost future. Each character carries a story, a gift of the turbulent times; Perhaps big
perhaps small, perhaps sad with joy, perhaps happy with pity; Through each seemingly unrelated but also under the same background of the story,
